Submissions

Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to submit to this journal. All submissions will be evaluated by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered suitable will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included in the submission, such as photographs, documents, and datasets. All authors identified in the submission must consent to being identified as authors. Where appropriate, the research must be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the country in which the study was conducted.

An editor may reject a submission if it does not meet the minimum quality standards and publication requirements. Before submitting, ensure that the study design and research rationale are properly structured and clearly articulated. The title should be concise, and the abstract should be self-contained. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to evaluate the manuscript. Once you are satisfied that your submission meets these standards, follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

PROCESSING

All submitted material will be analyzed by the journal’s Editorial Board, composed of: journal editors, editorial board members, associate editors, collaborators, and adjunct editors. The identification of the authors or the institution where the work was conducted will not be disclosed to reviewers, and reviewers will not be identified to the authors, except when requested by the reviewers themselves, characterizing the peer-review process under the double-blind model for all manuscript evaluations. Upon receipt, manuscripts will be dated and assigned a code, and the authors will be notified of receipt. The material will then be screened using plagiarism-detection software. Manuscripts presenting more than 20% similarity with original texts will not be accepted. Manuscripts that do not comply with the editorial guidelines will be rejected at this stage. Those that comply will be sent to two reviewers appointed by the Editor. Authors will be informed of acceptance and of any modifications eventually suggested by the Editorial Board. When modifications are requested, authors must return the corrected manuscript within 15 days and provide justification if any suggestion is not accepted.

COPYRIGHT

It is a condition of publication that authors transfer the copyright of their articles to the Goiás State Medical Residency Commission (Comissão Estadual de Residência Médica de Goiás). The transfer of copyright to the journal does not affect patent rights or agreements related to the authors. Figures, photographs, or tables from other publications may be reproduced, provided that proper credit is given.

The journal follows the CC BY license guidelines: This license allows others to distribute, remix, adapt, and build upon your work, even for commercial purposes, provided that they give appropriate credit for the original creation.

ETHICAL ASPECTS

The Editorial Board follows the principles of the Declaration of Helsinki and recommends that authors of submitted articles comply with ethical committee requirements and fulfill regulatory and legal requirements for experiments involving human subjects and drugs, including informed consent, according to the procedures required by their institution or country. All patient information must be anonymous; in particular, authors should verify that patient identification numbers and names have been removed from photographs. AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITY

The intellectual content of the manuscripts is entirely the responsibility of the authors. The Editorial Board assumes no responsibility for the opinions or statements expressed by the authors. Every effort will be made by the Editorial Board to avoid incorrect or inaccurate data. The number of authors should be limited to six.

PRESENTATION

Manuscripts must be typed in double spacing and must contain the following sections:

Title (Portuguese and English), Abstract (Portuguese and English), Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion, Acknowledgments, and References. Each section must begin on a new page. Case reports must be structured as follows: Abstract, Introduction, Case Report, Discussion, Conclusion, and References. The first page must include: title, authors’ first and last names and their affiliations, titles (not more than 20 characters), and e-mail address. The second page must contain the manuscript title in the header, and care should be taken throughout the remainder of the text so that neither the institution nor the authors can be identified (remove such information).

ABSTRACT

The abstract of original articles must be divided into sections containing information that allows the reader to gain an overall understanding of the article, divided into the following topics: Introduction, Objectives, Methods, Results, and Conclusions. It must not exceed 250 words and must contain between 3 and 5 keywords, listed in alphabetical order and separated by semicolons (e.g., Analgesia; Anesthesia; Acute Pain; Nerve Block). Abstracts must be written in a single paragraph. An English version of the abstract and keywords must be provided.

STYLE

Abbreviations must be written in capital letters and should not contain periods after the letters, e.g., US and not U.S. Statistical analyses must be described in detail in the Methods section. The use of footnotes will not be permitted, except in tables. The Editorial Board reserves the right to modify manuscripts whenever necessary to adapt them to the journal’s bibliographic style.

REFERENCES

References must be numbered consecutively as they appear in the text and subsequently in figures and tables, if applicable, cited as superscript numerals in ascending order (e.g., 1,2,3...), (e.g., “Recent work on the effect of ultrasound¹”). All references must be cited at the end of the article according to the information below:

1. Et al. is not used. All authors of the article must be cited.

2. Abbreviations of medical journals must follow the format of the National Library of Medicine.

3. Unpublished works, articles in preparation, or personal communications should not be used as references. When absolutely necessary, they should only be cited in the text.

4. Do not use articles that are difficult for readers to access, selecting the most relevant or recent ones.

5. The accuracy of reference data is the responsibility of the authors.

References must follow the Vancouver style as in the example below:

Amaral WN, Souza MM, Machado NF, Ribeiro PRJ. Reparo de mielomeningocele fetal: relato de caso. Rev Goiana Med. 2024 Nov 26;65(66):1-6.

For online pages consulted, the access link must be provided. Article titles should remain in their original language.

SPECIFIC NOMENCLATURES AND ABBREVIATIONS

Microorganism nomenclature must be presented in italics. Upon first citation in the text, the full genus and species names must be written, with the genus beginning with a capital letter and the species with a lowercase letter (e.g., Escherichia coli). In subsequent citations, the genus may be abbreviated by its initial letter followed by a period, while the species name remains written in full (e.g., E. coli).

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Directed to scientific or material contributions from others that do not justify co-authorship. Intended only for original articles.

ILLUSTRATIONS

All illustrations must be identified with the name of the principal author and the figure number. All illustrations must be cited in the text and numbered according to the order of appearance, e.g., (Figure 3).
